Senior Compliance Officer Monitoring RI

The role

APG Asset Management is hiring a Senior Compliance Officer Monitoring Responsible Investments. In this role you monitor that APG complies with related responsible investing legislation and regulations by:

 

What you would do

  • Translating the legal framework into new/updated compliance requirements applicable to the organization, incorporating the risks and control objectives to mitigate those (regulatory) risk;
  • Continuously keeping track of various publications from e.g. regulators, industry bodies, etc;
  • Participate in advising the 1st Line on defining detailed controls for risk mitigation in various processes (control frameworks) in addition to the process controls;
  • Execute key control testing for those activities for which the 2nd Line is defined as the control tester/uploader;
  • Execute monitoring activities by means of key control testing reviews, deep dives, etc;
  • Creating monitoring reports;
  • Provide updates for management and Compliance reporting.

 

What you bring

  • You have an academic degree; recognized compliance risk management accreditation desirable;
  • You have 8+ years of experience in compliance risk management in the financial services industry;
  • You have knowledge of Responsible Investing related legislation and regulations;
  • You have experience in 2nd line monitoring within financial services;
  • You have affinity with financial instruments and investments, data, IT and strong attraction to digitalization and dashboards.
  • You are familiar using data to guide decisions and reporting and have worked closely with/within Audit, Operational Risk Management and or other data driven analytical roles;
  • You work independently, setting priorities in a demanding work environment, remain goal focused and delivering the highest standards to continuous improve in your profession;
  • You are able to write comprehensive monitoring reports and define to the point and pragmatic recommendations ensuring compliance to regulations and legislation;
  • You take initiative and have experience in optimizing monitoring plans, risk based analysis and reports;
  • You have proven to be a strong challenging partner with countervailing power. Your indebt knowledge provides you with arguments with which you can convince – always looking at best option for the participants;
  • You are analytically strong and can translate theory into practice, have an independent and critical view, but are also able to put daily practice into perspective, in order to create support;
  • You stimulate transparent cooperation and ensure adequate checks and balances to prevent abuses and incidents;
  • You are curious and flexible, looking for improvement and innovation in a commercial and result-orientated environment. Organizational sensitivity, pro-activity can-do mentality and persuasiveness, enables you to manage and deliver expectations;
  • Your communication skills gives you the ability to connect and interact with your colleagues within the Compliance department as well as with colleagues of other departments in a constructive way and you are able to translate Compliance objectives into executable improvements;
  • You have a very good command of the English and Dutch language.
