The role
In this position of Senior Client Researcher, you will cooperate with the Client Portfolio Manager and other Fiduciary Managers on the analysis of mandates, thereby contributing to defining appropriate mandates and reviewing these against relevant peers.
What you would do
Your daily work includes:
- Performing a variety of quantitative analyses like factor analyses, peer group analyses, or simulation studies;
- Contributing to and reviewing asset-class specific investment cases for a specific set of asset classes, that will be used as input for the client’s mandating process;
- Working on exposure-, performance & risk analyses for several different asset classes or combinations of asset classes throughout the investment process (from strategic level to detailed mandate level);
- Gaining insights in the top-class worldwide asset managers by being involved in the evaluation of asset managers;
- Building, maintaining, managing and expanding the client commitment model(s) for private investments;
- Cooperating with the Client Portfolio Manager, Fiduciary Managers, Portfolio Managers and Risk Management colleagues;
- Monitoring risk-exposure and performance and conduct stress tests across the client portfolio and flag issues so they can be resolved;
- Supporting the Client Portfolio Manager in maintaining and managing client policies;
- Supporting the Client Portfolio Manager in his or her role servicing the client.
The department of the Chief Fiduciary Officer is designed to act as a trusted and independent advisor to our pension fund clients. It advises clients on strategic balance-sheet and investment management strategy and supports the clients in translating the client strategy into a tangible set of mandates. CFI evaluates the performance of selected internal and external asset managers and keeps oversight over the risk and return of the total client portfolio. Within the CFI department, based in Amsterdam, you will be part of the Client Management department. You report to the Managing Director Client Management.
What you bring
As Senior Client Researcher you are a client-driven result-oriented team player with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High standards for the quality of your work and your organizational sensitivity are well developed. You focus on a broad set of asset classes or field of expertise for which you remain on top of the latest developments and available products and services.
Furthermore, we ask for:
- A university degree in econometrics, (mathematical) economics, (quantitative) finance, data science or similar. Moreover, (willingness to acquire) a relevant post-academic qualification like CFA or CAIA;
- Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience within asset management, including experience a.o. with defining investment strategies, asset manager selection, evaluation, portfolio overlay and/or active asset allocation;
- Strong analytical and/or programming skills (e.g., Matlab, R, Python);
- Strong inquisitive skills and a curious mindset;
- Proactive approach as this role leaves ample room for personal development, out-of-the box conceptual thinking and analyses;
- Preference for someone who has experience with conducting performance and risk activities, including holdings-based analysis, benchmarking and peer group analyses;
- Strong communication skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch (fluent) and English.
