This is going to be your job

Do you want to take your investment career to the next level at a global asset manager? Do you want to help reshaping the financial sector of tomorrow with your investment skills? Are you cooperative and prepared to roll up your sleeves? Are you thorough and detailed in your work, and not looking to cut corners? Then we are looking for you!

About APG

APG manages over €500 billion in pension assets for pension funds. APG provides the pension for one in five
families in the Netherlands. APG plays a leading role in the pension sector, and focuses strongly on the transition towards sustainable investing.

The Multi-asset domain houses the following activities of APG Asset Management:

  1. Asset Allocation & Overlay

This team focusses on managing the investment portfolio from a top-down perspective. Examples of key activities are monitoring and analyzing market and economic developments that may impact total portfolio return and risk, steering and rebalancing the asset mix in line with client specific policies, and overseeing client specific overlay activities, in particular with respect to hedging interest rate and currency risk.

  1. Liquid Commodities investments

The team is responsible for the research, development and portfolio management of the commodity investment strategies. The team takes exposures across a broad variety of markets, mostly in sectors such as agriculture, base metals, and precious metals. Investments are made through derivatives and the team employs a systematic active investment strategy, relying on a custom built portfolio management and research framework.

  1. Treasury & Trading

Implementation of all investment decisions across equities, fixed income, money markets, currencies and a broad variety of listed and OTC derivatives is the responsibility of this team. The team’s expertise is to implement large exposures effectively and discretely, thereby avoiding impact on market prices. A highly varied technical infrastructure is applied to access markets and liquidity; in many cases systematic trading strategies are applied. A large part of the trading activities also require active management of counterparty credit and liquidity risks and the team is responsible for managing those risks in line with frameworks that are agreed with the pensionfund clients.

In the role of front office developer you will contribute to development, implementation and maintenance of a broad variety of (quantitative) models. In that capacity you will cooperate with portfolio managers, traders and researchers, most specifically with those that are involved with quantitative R&D. The level of knowledge of quantitative techniques across the department is high and there is a strong ambition to continuously improve on these from a return, risk and operational efficiency perspective.

Examples of in-house built models that we employ are:

  • Interest rate derivative pricing and exposure management
  • Optimization of cash and collateral balances
  • Relative value modeling for interest rate curves
  • Multi-factor model for running a tactical FX strategy
  • Simulation based model for measurement of counterparty credit risk
  • Risk management modules for steering the currency and interest rate overlays
  • Systematic strategy for limiting market impact of executing equity-baskets.
  • Commodity Alpha Model.
  • Timing model for rolling commodity futures contracts.
  • Liquid Commodities Platform for R&D and PM tooling
