APG Asset Management is looking to expand its Global Private Equity Fund Investments team with two hires in Amsterdam. We are considering candidates with varying levels of experience. Job titles, responsibilities, and compensation will be commensurate with a candidate’s level of experience.

 

 

Job description

As a (Senior) Portfolio Manager, you will play an essential role in the execution and monitoring of primary fund commitments. Your insights and analyses will be key in assessing new investment opportunities, as well as in monitoring our European portfolio. In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to build your own network of private equity professionals, while also collaborating closely with colleagues on projects in topics such as responsible investing.

 

You will join one of the largest and most influential private equity programs globally. The Fund Investments team not only works in close collaboration with team members in New York and Hong Kong, but also with the rest of the Global Private Equity team, including the dedicated Co-Investments, Secondaries, Analytics & Mid-Office teams.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform analyses and contribute to the selection process of appropriate fund investment opportunities, including relative assessments of strategy, organization, track record and terms;
  • Support deal teams in the evaluation process by actively contributing to among others the (i) due diligence process, (ii) preparation of the investment proposal, (iii) investment committee discussions, (iv) legal negotiations and documentation;
  • Monitor performance of fund commitments and underlying portfolio companies, including providing support in the internal fund review process and related reporting activities. Depending on level of seniority, serve as influential advisor to GPs, including actively participating in fund advisory committees;
  • Develop a network with peer professionals in the private equity industry;
  • And contribute to APG’s continued global leadership in responsible investing.

APG’s Global Private Equity team has employees in APG’s Amsterdam, New York, and Hong Kong offices, with dedicated groups for each of the Fund Investments, Co-Investments, and Secondaries strategies. The European Fund Investments team consists of eight investment professionals, and is looking to grow the team with these new hires.

 

Job requirements

As a member of the Fund Investments team, you are intellectually curious and eager to learn, have strong analytical / technical skills (including financial modelling), and are able to work productively both individually and within a team setting. You work in a structured way and have clear and effective communication and presentation skills.

 

Additional requirements and competencies include:

  • 6 to 12 years of relevant work experience in the fields of private equity (preferably fund investments), M&A, and asset management (or relevant area of expertise);
  • A strong academic record with a Master’s degree or equivalent;
  • Solid communication skills in English, including the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written form;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects / investments at any given time;
  • Excellent people skills with positive attitude and disposition;
  • Proactive and diligent with strong attention to detail.
