APG Asset Management Amsterdam is looking to hire a Quantitative Portfolio Manager in the Research and Analytics (R&A) team, and part of the Global Infrastructure team.

Role description
Reporting to the lead Research & Analytics Infrastructure, the role is a pivotal element in both the development of a global Infrastructure Analytics platform and the regional investment process for the European Infrastructure portfolio.

 

You will play a key role in shaping the investment strategy and developing novel capabilities to support the Infrastructure team’s portfolio construction and value creation objectives. The €35bn infrastructure portfolio’s assets under management are expected to grow significantly in the next years, and you will be closely working with all our portfolio managers to shape the framework based on which capital is allocated, to develop novel analyses and solutions to address challenges within existing assets, and to identify origination and value creation opportunities across >35 sectors and >30 countries. You will leverage your technical skills and entrepreneurial drive to develop new analytical and research capabilities, including building our investment data collection, analysis and scenario modelling platform, introducing (Gen)AI capabilities in the team and expanding our knowledge base with deep sectoral and geographical research.

 

Next to that, you will be dedicating a significant part of your time to portfolio management, including engaging in transactions and supporting with asset management through board participation in our direct investments. You will work side-by-side with a highly talented roster of investment professionals, C-suite executives and advisors on a wide range of assignments which will test your problem-solving skills and set you on an accelerated personal development path.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the global infrastructure analytics platform, participating in all stages from solution design to development and rollout
  • Lead broad and deep thematic research to inform the team’s capital allocation strategy
  • Formulate, steer and monitor the value creation agenda across our 200+ investments
  • Participate in transactions, contributing across all workstreams
  • Contribute to asset management as board observer, or on assignments on a discrete basis

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate is passionate about infrastructure, investment and research, and has a quantitative background.

  • Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative domain, such as econometrics, engineering or mathematics – other backgrounds welcome if demonstrable technical and analytical aptitude
  • 3-5 years of work experience in a relevant domain e.g., M&A, investment research, strategy consulting
  • Entrepreneurial drive, with the ability to independently shape innovative investment research solutions and to lead their development and implementation
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders from leading institutions
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with demonstrable relevant prior experience (e.g., in transactions and/or value creation), and willingness to continue investing in personal development on this dimension
  • Adaptability and comfort with ambiguity, being able to cater to ever-changing situations under time pressure, and to contribute on topics ranging from highly strategic and forward-looking to operational and requiring immediate attention
  • Strong command of Python and the Office Suite, and experience with SQL
  • Excellent command of English
  • Willingness to undertake regional travel
