Job description
We offer a position in APG’s Investment Solutions’ team to create a consistent approach to digitalization across the CIO-CMI departments. In this overarching Digi Lead function you will provide coordination and technical oversight across the four new CMI Digipods. The Digipods act as controlled self-service units per asset class and are embedded within the Capital Markets asset classes to empower the investment teams to make more informed and effective (investment) decisions. The Digipods target consistent digital maturity and capabilities across the Capital Markets teams while closely collaboration with COO who sets the IT & data standards.
In addition, you will advise the CIO Capital Markets and his management team (MT CMI) on data and technology while working closely together with the COO Data Office and Tech Office. Your vision, hands-on-mindset and energy will contribute to our ambition to be a leading provider of sustainable investment solutions. As such, the ideal candidate will combine software development and technology skills with a proactive leadership attitude, teamwork & cross-disciplinary skills, a quality mindset, and result focus in combination with a passion for sustainable capital markets investing.
The main responsibilities of the Digi Lead Capital Markets include the following:
- Work with the Digipods in consistently executing their tasks and activities related to building information products in the consume layer according to the applicable standards and tooling;
- Own the implementations of digital tooling and ensure consistency: Ensure that fit for purpose, future fit technology choices are made in the Digipods and that the implementations created by the Digipods follow consistent standards and approaches in their technical implementations. Ensure that the teams are aware of and follow the appropriate standards. Provide input on software and solution designs to ensure scalable solution delivery;
- Lead to DigiPod community to facilitate that the Digipods share where possible content and solutions. Ensure that the DigiPod community is aware of developments or innovations of approach in any of the individual Digipod teams;
- Monitor the objectives of the investment team to ensure current and future information requirements are met: Participate in high level strategy meetings with heads of the asset classes and the company management. Ensure that the technology and analytical capabilities exist to achieve the objectives and future aspirations of the asset classes. Assist the Digi Coordinators within each Digipod to form a roadmap for data and technology within each asset class;
- Advise (senior) management and end users about systems and process design and other issues regarding information products;
- Provides strategic and tactical design, implementation and application of information products to the investment processes of capital markets as well as the processes to integrate responsible investment across Capital and Private markets;
- Support the CIO and MT CMI investment teams in their vision and strategy for data and information products; Serve as the COO point of contact for Capital Markets on data and technology as well as Digipods.
The Digi Lead Capital Markets will report to the Head of Investment Solutions. You will work closely with the Digipod coordinators who will functionally report to you. The position is based in either Amsterdam or Heerlen although presence in the Amsterdam office is mandatory for 1 or 2 days per week.
We ask for
As a Digi Lead Capital Markets you have a self-starting attitude. You have a proactive, hands-on and pragmatic mindset with a strong result-oriented focus. You know how to organize your internal network and you are a team player with a healthy ambition. You are technically strong, your work is accurate and your communication skills are well-developed including drafting storylines, presenting and writing skills (Dutch + English). You ask the right questions at the right moment and are able to get buy-in for your ideas at different levels of the organisation.
Additionally, you have:
- An academic degree/PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or an equivalent qualification; a CFA charter or an equivalent qualification (e.g. VBA Investment Management, CAIA, etc.) would be preferred;
- Professional programming skills (Python, Databricks and SQL required; Power BI or Qlik are nice to have) and the ability to handle large financial and ESG datasets.
- At least 10 years relevant working experience;
- A solid understanding of the institutional capital markets and sustainability investing;
- A passion for data and technology in asset management, ambition to ensure continuous improvement and a drive to operate in a demanding, performance oriented work environment;
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English and Dutch;
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to set directions.
