IT Infrastructure and Azure Cloud
APG’s IT infrastructure supports hundreds of applications for both internal and external use. It’s heavily relied upon, because if you want to release every two weeks or complete a sprint, your infrastructure needs to keep up. Our data centers are partly on-premises and partly hosted in the Microsoft Azure cloud. Eliminating physical data centers is not a goal in itself. But where the cloud offers advantages, we move storage to the cloud, migrate applications, and use cloud-native solutions.
For DevOps teams, we’ve set up a private enterprise cloud, where infrastructure is available at the push of a button.
Cloud Competence Center and Cloud Community
To support DevOps teams in adopting the APG cloud, each business unit has access to a Cloud Competence Center (CCC). The CCC bridges the gap between cloud applications and the APG cloud platform. In addition, we’ve established a Cloud Community to encourage knowledge sharing between application teams and the platform administrators. The community is the go-to place for exchanging Azure experiences, for example, during regular lunch sessions.
End User IT
End User IT focuses on the infrastructure of our work environment, both digital and physical. The End User IT Services team ensures that 4,000 internal and external employees can work together securely and efficiently, anytime and anywhere, whether from home, the office, or on the train.
With first- and second-line support and workplace services, our colleagues make sure APG employees have everything they need. Office workstations come standard with dual monitors, and all meeting rooms are equipped with video conferencing and presentation screens. APG uses the Microsoft Office 365 Suite and follows a one-device-per-person policy (excluding phones).
