Digitalization is one of three strategic themes within our strategy 2020-2025. It will be your challenge to drive the innovation and ecosystem approach. In 2021 we will be revamping and strengthening our innovation portfolio and execution, as well as leveraging our vast ecosystem for both innovation and more strategic make / buy / ally decisions. With >50 innovation experiments executed since 2017 and various implemented of the past years, APG has already collected impressive knowledge and experience. The tremendous potential we discovered in these experiments is now a core theme in our new 2025 strategy. With the execution of this strategy gearing up, now it is again time to look start actively engaging with our ecosystem and drive a new wave of innovation.

The APG ambition is to remain the leading long term responsible investor that we are, in a fast changing market. Boosting innovation in 2021, your focus is to accelerate and further enhance the way of working. The focal points of innovation have been usage of data, advanced analytics (such as artificial intelligence/ deep learning), visualization and everything around that. These make a true difference for us as investors, in both return, responsible investing and various client services. It would be great when you will further explore and apply many new technologies, business solutions and ways of working in cocreation with the business. 

We are already working in a strong network, or ecosystem. With e.g. existing operational partners, investment partners, Brightlands smart services Campus, knowledge centers, fin / invest techs and various Universities. You role will be to create focus and maximum added value in the ecosystem, primarily from the perspective of digitalization & Innovation.

You will be a member of the digitalization & innovation team. In this role you will operate in a dynamic and impactful in- and external environment. This unique opportunity gives you the chance to show your impact on Asset Management and Responsible Investing. You will join a dynamic team, contributing to the strategic agenda and directly reporting to the Head of Digitalization & Innovation. We expect you to surprise us.

Your challenge and responsibilities:

  • Revamp and manage the innovation funnel & execution, fitting the digitalization strategy;
  • Coordinate the innovation portfolio; report on progress, costs, value;
  • Maintain and develop approaches, way of working and toolbox;
  • Further develop implementation best practices for successful experiments;
  • Directly lead a number of innovation experiments;
  • Develop the internal innovation community;
  • Organize a solid and focused ecosystem for innovation execution and access to external knowledge;
  • Co-lead the approach for make buy ally decision making  within the digitalization agenda;
  • Co-create with key managers and professionals within Business and Agile IT to ensure execution and reaching business value goals.

Practically  / hard skills
  • A Master’s degree in preferably an economic, financial or technologic field;
  • Postmaster in relevant field (eg data science, information management);
  • At least 7 years of relevant work experience;
  • Proven experience with common innovation methodologies;
  • Hands on  experience with both innovation experimenting as well as implementation;
  • Proven affinity with asset management and willingness to get certificates on financial markets and asset management;
  • Experience and affinity with digital technologies, and related organizational change;
  • Proven ability to connect between business and IT and between strategy and execution;
  • Excellent verbal / presentation / writing skills in English (English is APG AM’s default language) and preferably also in Dutch.
