As a cyber security specialist, do you want to develop yourself more broadly than in just one area? Do you want to grow horizontally as well as vertically? APG offers an IT environment, the large scale of which is partly what makes it a challenging environment, and one in which you can develop yourself optimally. Extensive training possibilities facilitate your self-development both in terms of specialist and technical content and on the personal level. In this way you have control of your career.

As a cyber security specialist you will be responsible for carrying out the daily operational security processes and for the availability, reliability and integrity of our infrastructure such that the information systems function optimally 24/7. So as to provide optimal support to our clients.
How will your working day look?
As cyber security specialist you will monitor security alerts on a daily basis. You will record security incidents and coordinate and oversee follow-up actions for any threats and vulnerabilities detected.
With your current knowledge of cybersecurity you will help with the correct implantation of the security processes so that they run smoothly within the various different departments.
Your tasks will also include:
  • accompanying and performing security tests;
  • identifying and assessing risks and threats either as main actor or in a supporting role;
  • identifying and developing new use cases;
  • accompanying the implementation of security measures;

  • drawing up investigative reports and assessments.
Your role involves participation in the 24-hour stand-by arrangements and you may be required to work outside regular office hours if necessary.

You will be working in the IT Security department of the Shared Infrastructure Services unit, which is part of the APG IT organization. This department is responsible for the first line of defense, resulting in reliable security for the APG IT organization and the provision of its services. The team consists of security advisors, who advise mainly on projects and other security issues within the organization and security specialists (each with his or her own specialty), plus a flexible reserve of external resources, spread between the Heerlen and Amsterdam sites. The working atmosphere is pragmatic and informal.
The IT infrastructure underpins the APG business processes so that among other things the pension administration for 4.5 million people in the Netherlands and asset management can be properly carried out.
We have our own datacenter and a fallback location with a highly diverse and complex IT set-up comprising thousands of systems with around a petabyte of data. Our network is international, with offices in New York and Hong Kong. You will be based at our Heerlen office.
