The compliance program of APG AM has been established to ensure the preservation of the APG’s reputation and integrity through compliance with (the  letter as well as the spirit of) applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards in each market in which it operate and through compliance with internal rules and standards.

Compliance supports and facilitates APG AM in doing the right things, by means of helping APG AM to realize its strategic objectives and safeguarding the assets of their clients, ensuring the future income of their participants.

The role of compliance is dynamic and in constant change. Compliance is a proactive and accessible business partner, who shows role model behavior, educate and stimulate ethical behavior and awareness, who acts independently and - if needed - sets clear boundaries supported by effective compliance risk management processes and responsibilities allocated within the 3 Lines of Defense. The Compliance department is moving towards anticipating and sharing knowledge pro-actively. This includes creating awareness and investing and implementing responsibility for compliance company-wide. Devotion to the highest integrity standards and respect for APG’s business values are expected from each employee.

Within APG AM you will be part of the Compliance department, supporting the colleagues in the team with all compliance related matters regarding Financial Economic Crime. The enhancements foreseen in the global compliance program will focus on governance & organization, risk management and digitalization.

Within the Compliance Risk Management function the Senior Advisors are responsible for optimizing collaboration with colleagues within the first line (Account Managers). Placing responsibilities in the organization itself and involve (internal) specialists in a timely manner, as Compliance Specialist Financial Economic Crime & MLRO you work with the full Compliance team in supporting the business in managing its Financial Economic Crime risks and complying with the Financial Economic Crime Policy. The Financial Economic Crime risks are being referred to as: Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, Sanctions breaches, External Fraud, Corruption, Bribery and Customer Tax integrity.

The Compliance Specialist Financial Economic Crime & MLRO  will have a leading role in sharing knowledge and supporting the Account Managers and Monitoring Specialist in this specific field of expertise.

  • You believe that integrity is the basis for the realization of the targets of APG AM, its clients, and their participants. You have spent the majority of your career in compliance risk management in the financial services industry and in particular in the area of Financial Economic Crime.
  • In your role you have experienced working within multidisciplinary teams; you stimulate transparent cooperation and ensure adequate checks and balances are defined to prevent abuses and incidents.
  • You are familiar with the Compliance Risk Management Cycle and have had an active advisory role in identifying integrity risks and advising on internal corporate governance and (new) laws and regulations.
  • You have an academic degree; recognized compliance risk management accreditation desirable (preferable ACAMS). You have affinity with financial instruments and investments. 
  • The language of communication within APG Asset Management is English.
  • You are a professional who has the ability to work independently. You know how to set priorities in a demanding work environment remaining goal focused and delivering the highest standards and strive for continuous improvement and development in your area of expertise.
  • This is a position in which you can develop personally to the full. There is plenty of room for initiative and change.
