The compliance program of APG AM has been established to ensure the preservation of the APG’s reputation and integrity through compliance with applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards in each market in which it operates and through compliance with internal rules and standards.

Compliance supports and facilitates APG AM in doing the right things, the right way and with integrity. Helping APG AM to realize its strategic objectives and safeguarding the assets of their clients; and ensuring the future income of their participants.

The role of compliance is dynamic and in constant change. Compliance is a proactive and accessible business partner, who shows role model behavior, educate and stimulate ethical behavior and awareness, who acts independently and - if needed - set clear boundaries supported by effective compliance risk management processes and responsibilities allocated within the 3 Lines of Defense. The Compliance department is moving towards anticipating and sharing knowledge on beforehand. This includes creating awareness and investing and implementing responsibility for compliance company-wide. Devotion to the highest integrity standards and respect for APG’s business values are expected from each employee.

Within APG AM you will be part of the Compliance department. The future role of Compliance Risk Management will be more focused on strategic business partnership and is moving towards anticipating and sharing knowledge on beforehand. At the same time enhancements in the global compliance program will focus on governance & organization, risk management and digitalization.

Within the Compliance department the Senior Advisors are responsible for optimizing collaboration with colleagues within the first line. Placing responsibilities in the organization itself and involve (internal) specialists in a timely manner, as Senior Advisor you are the linking pin for all the compliance pillars towards the organization and in this specific account manager role towards the COO organization.

As Compliance Officer/ Account Manager COO  you will have a leading role in sharing knowledge and understanding of compliance throughout the COO organization. You offer countervailing power without losing sight of the relationship. As senior advisor you have an excellent sense of situational communication.

As Compliance Officer/ Account Manager COO you believe that integrity is the basis for the realization of the targets of APG AM, its clients, and their participants. You have spent the majority of your career in compliance risk management in the financial services industry.

In your role as Compliance Officer, you have experienced working within multidisciplinary teams; you stimulate transparent cooperation and ensure adequate checks and balances to prevent abuses and incidents.

  • You are familiar with the Compliance Risk Management Cycle and have had an active advisory role in identifying integrity risks and advising on internal corporate governance and (new) regulations.
  • You have an academic degree; recognized compliance risk management accreditation desirable. You have affinity with financial instruments and investments. 
  • The language of communication within APG Asset Management is English.
You are a professional who has the ability to work independently. You know how to set priorities in a demanding work environment keeping goal focused and delivering the highest standards and strive to continuous improvement in your profession.
